In New Jersey, Halite Rock salt is the most common melter. This is due primarily due to it's inexpensive cost. Rock salt has a limited melting ability below 5 degrees. Rock salt should also be considered corrosive in areas where vegetation and sensitive sufaces are of concern. Available in 10# Rock salt bags, 25# Rock salt bags and 50# Rock salt bags bags.
